Wedding countdown: 2 months to go!
So that's slightly terrifying.
Things ended up happening in April after all!
Candice was in town from Saskatoon, so Jaelyn and I met up with her for dinner. We got to meet Jaelyn's baby, Colson for the first time, and he is now officially the 4th baby that I have ever held! I'm making big strides in the world of babies!
That same night was SONiC's 8th birthday party... So festivities were had...
I found out that I apparently won an award! It was a 2012 Radio and Production Award for Best Medium Market Promo! I think I may even get a trophy!
Basically, these are awards for all of the commercials and promos that you hear on the radio in between songs and the announcers speaking. (Doing voice work is a large part of my job.) I was the voice in a promo that ran on JackFM in Calgary (not even one of the stations that I work at) for a Bon Jovi concert, and I guess it was pretty good! Award-worthy, even! Kristen was in town from Vancouver, and we got to have a really nice hangout with her.
Tim's band, the Cosmopolitan Music Society had a concert called Cosmo at the Boston Pops. I love getting to see him play!
I celebrated my 6 year anniversary at SONiC on the 16th! Time has flown!!
And then this past Friday I was lazily sitting on my couch after work with my face in my phone when MY MOM walked into my living room from Regina!!!
All I could say was "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!?" And she replied that this weekend was my Bridal Shower. I was shocked and couldn't believe it!!! I assumed that there would likely be a shower, but for some reason I thought that it would be later in May! So I was completely unprepared and surprised!! Luckily I had already bought a dress for the shower. ;) Even though I knew that it was happening, I still had no idea where it was going to be held, what we would be doing or who would be there. The whole thing was surprise after surprise!
On Saturday, Tim drove me to Rutherford House, which is a house that was built for the first Alberta Premier in 1911. This is when I found out that the shower was a fancy High Tea and that everyone would be wearing fascinators! (The whole thing was SO right up my alley!!!)
I walked in to find my Mom and some of my best friends in the world, including Sarah who had flown in that morning from Kelowna, and Carrie who had driven in that morning from Regina! I was so touched and emotional. I couldn't even process everything!
I opened gifts and we played adorable games, and of course we ate delicious treats and drank mimosas and tea!
There is no way that I could have asked for a better or more perfect shower, and I am so thankful to all of you who were there for me.
After the shower I was informed that we would be going out that night. Susan is getting married in May, and Sarah, Susan and I have always been a great night-out team, so the both of us were going to have a Bachelorette Party (even though mine is actually in June).
Sarah had veils for us and everything.
I REALLY DON'T go out "clubbing" anymore, so it was a total blast from the past, and I was glad to get to do it on Whyte Ave, since that's exactly where most of my old wild days took place. Such a great trip down memory lane, especially in places like The Strat and Funky Buddha.
The whole thing turned into a pub-crawl, of us basically blowing into a place, causing a scene, having a shot (I didn't pay a single penny all night, everything we drank was free), dancing, and then blowing on out to the next place! We went to NINE bars!! HA HA! It was seriously the best, most efficient packing-in of a month's worth of clubbing in one night. I loved it. It's never a dull moment with Sarah, Susan and I.
I was a little bit hungover the next day, but it was totally worth it. Especially when I wasn't sure if I was still drunk and hallucinating things...
Tim's friend Vince (groomsman) came to town from Toronto, so we had him to hang out with for a few days. And finally the whirlwind month of April came to an end!
I'm really looking forward to all of the fun stuff that's happening in May!
My favourite hipster fair is happening this weekend, The Royal Bison Art & Craft Fair.
I have what I believe will be the final fitting on my wedding dress.
I'm seeing MGMT play TWO shows (that is, if I stay for the second one).
I'm going to Regina for May Long weekend to attend Katie and Tommy's wedding (Sarah's sister).
I'm seeing Imagine Dragons play a show.
ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT is back on May 26th!!!
AND the very last day of May is Susan and Matt's wedding! I can't wait to see you as a stunning bride, Susan!
THIS MONTH'S SHOUT OUTS!: May 14th is Heather Petrychyn's 31st birthday!
I hope that your birthday is wonderful in your new city and also your first birthday as a Mom! We've had a lot of fun adventures together, and you've always been such a strong and loyal friend. I've always loved you for that. I hope that Curtis really spoils you! May 18th is Nicole Thibault's 31st birthday!
No words can express the love that I have in my heart for you, Nicole! You're a major part of my life and I am so lucky to have found you. It means so incredibly much to have you as one of my bridesmaids. You're wonderful and funny and warm... And I love you. I can't wait to spoil you for your birthday!!
May 27th is Krystie Coutu's 27th birthday!
Golden birthday!! I am so thankful that we managed to meet each other in such a crazy way, Krystie! You've always been one of the most hilarious and awesome people that I know, and you certainly deserve the most amazing birthday. Trevor had better spoil you! I love you with all of my heart!
May 28th is Heather Petrychyn's 2nd wedding anniversary!
I can't believe it has already been two years for you and Curtis and that you have an adorable baby now! I hope that it's a wonderful day for you both!
