THE GOODS BLOG: Erika's Precious Little Life - January Edition

This is like a week late because this year (so far) has just been one thing after the next! First we were away from home for the holidays and I had no time to write, and then more recently we were hit by an awful stomach flu that claimed us all. I’m hoping that I can finally get this posted already.
Welcome to 2018 my ladies!! I feel like this should be an amazing year. The number 8 is my favourite number, after all.
December was pretty magical, and even moreso with little Archie to share it with. We did tons of holiday things!
First of all, we got back the family photography that we had had done.
I love the way that the pictures turned out, except that Archie wasn’t in a very good mood. The photographer offered to do another shoot in her studio just of Archie so that we could get some better shots of him. He was much more like himself!
Archie also had his first photo taken with Santa Claus and he didn’t mind hanging out with Santa at all.
We did all sorts of activities; the Vancouver Christmas Market, Bright Nights in Stanley Park, Capcom’s Annual Breakfast with Santa, and went to see Scuba Claus at the Vancouver Aquarium.
We also got Archie a babysitter so that Tim and I could attend Capcom’s Christmas Party which was a lot of fun. It was a much smaller scale than the BioWare parties, but still just fun to dress up and get out and be adults!
Before leaving for the holidays, we did our own Christmas at home with our little family where “Santa came early.” Archie loved opening presents! Experiencing his first Christmas with him was really special.
Then we left for Regina! We had a great visit there and spent lots of quality family time. It was great to be able to travel again this year, unlike last year when I was way too pregnant. (Although, we do look back quite fondly on our quiet little Christmas from last year.)
I yoga’d on Christmas morning, obvs...
And Archie got booze and fireworks...
So you know, a Christmas success.
We also went to a movie theater (twice!) for the first time since having Archie, so that was exciting!! We saw The Disaster Artist (which I LOVED!!) and Star Wars (which I did not love).
After that we went to London and did it all over again! Tim’s side is a bit crazy, because it’s just exploding with people. People all the time. Sometimes too many people.
My Sister-in-Law Emily is about 29 weeks pregnant with my 4th niece!! Archie remains the only boy in the family, which is starting to seem mathematically impossible.
We had a super low-key New Years, but we DID make it to midnight and popped a bottle!
I am so grateful that I got to see a bunch of you over our holidays! Spending time with you, even if it was short, always means so much to me. ♥ One of my goals for 2018 is to see all of you in person this year!! I think it could happen! Also, come to Vancouver!

Life with Archie:
Archie turned ELEVEN MONTHS old!
His interests include: MOVING, saying "mama" repeatedly all day, and putting things inside of other things!
He managed to avoid getting sick for almost his entire first year of life, but then unfortunately caught a stomach flu from his cousins. He spent an evening vomiting repeatedly everywhere and we took him to emergency just to make sure that we were dealing with it properly. Two nights later (last night), Tim and I had caught the exact same thing. Which was awful. Thankfully it was all very short-lived.
Archie now has ALL of his IDs and is a full-on citizen of the planet!! In addition to these, he also has a birth certificate and a social insurance number, but both of those are just pieces of paper. He’s ready to receive health care and to travel the world!
A bit of follow-up to some of the things that I was asking about last month... I’ve realized that the type of birth control pill that I’m on actually prevents me from getting my period. So even if my period did “come back,” I still wouldn’t get it. I’m starting to wonder if I might just stop taking it. I’d be much happier just being back on the patch once I’m finished with breastfeeding... Although by the way that things are going, Archie wants that to be never. Thankfully, Archie’s biting while breastfeeding was short-lived and he seems to have learned that he isn’t allowed to do that.
He got a really nice walker for Christmas and loves it! Thanks for the tips!!
I had to update this photo! I’m so glad that so many of you were able to meet Archie in his first year of life. He’s obviously a major part of my life and so are you guys. Your support means everything to me. ♥
January is a shiny and fresh year. Full of potential. Full of opportunity.
It’s my birthday on the 10th and I’m going to be rolling onto the wroooong side of 30. Ha ha ha! I know that Tim has birthday plans for me, but I don’t know what they are yet.
And then it’s Archie’s birthday on the 16th! He’ll be a one year old little boy! What a year!! We survived!!! We’re having a party for him on the following weekend and I hope that all of you locals will be able to come! I don’t know how to throw a kid party... So it should be interesting. Loot bags for adults?
Me and Tim’s date night this month involves going to a cool and popular restaurant called Royal Dinette followed by attending the BØRNS concert, a musician that we really like. Cannot wait!!
I’m also going to the Passion Pit concert later in the month.
Probably also gonna hit up a few yoga workshops! My practice became a bit of a mess with all of the holiday craziness, so I’m really looking forward to getting it back to a good place.

I’m sad that I live farther away from you now, but so grateful for the years that we spent nearby to each other. I’m glad that when I get old, you always get old shortly after, ha ha. I can’t wait for our boys to spend more time together as they grow up. Love you so much!!
