BOOKS THAT I READ IN 2017:

The Tennis Party by Madeleine Wickham

Bringing Up Bébé by Pamela Druckerman

My (Not So) Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella

My favourite book of the year!

I hope that if you give any of my picks a try that you'll love them as much as I do!!

IN 2017 I TRAVELED TO THESE PLACES:

Muskoka, Ontario X 3

Ottawa, Ontario X 2

Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Toronto, Ontario

Vancouver, British Columbia

Regina, Saskatchewan X 2

Qualicum Beach, British Columbia

Whistler, British Columbia

London, Ontario

I think that Las Vegas wins by default as my best destination of the year. It was the only time that I was able to leave the country! This was my third time visiting that wacky place and I think that it might have been the most fun!

IN 2017 I SAW THESE BANDS PLAY LIVE:

Britney Spears

San Cisco

The Killers

I loved seeing The Killers for the 4th time! They put on such an incredible show! Favourite band that I got to see!

WEDDINGS THAT WE ATTENDED IN 2017:

Sarah & Shane got married on August 5, 2017 in Regina!

FAMILY/FRIENDS WHO HAD BABIES IN 2017:

Tim & I had Archibald on January 16, 2017!

Angela & Greg had Laura on February 25, 2017!

Laura & Matt had Max on May 6, 2017!

Candice & Ryan had Rhys on May 26, 2017!

And of course... RESOLUTIONS... First let's see how I did with my 2017 resolutions:

~ Birth a healthy human child as naturally as possible. Try to be super chill and composed about it. (Can this not be enough??? It seems like it should be.)

~ Become someone’s mother without feeling like my life/identity is being clawed away from me. (This should also be plenty enough for the year.)

~ GET BACK MY HOT YOGA BOD ASAP!!!

~ Visit the Maritimes for the first time ever.

~ Renovate our kitchen.

Not everything was a success but I feel that everything turned out pretty well, all things considered. Birthing a healthy human child was a big success. Not only did his birth go exactly according to plan, but I was pretty chill and composed about it. I mean, as much as one could hope to be. And I did it entirely naturally, without the use of any medication or intervention whatsoever. The second item on the list has been a bit more challenging. Becoming someone’s mother is an all-consuming task, while extremely wonderful and rewarding at the same time. Amazingly, getting back my hot yoga bod was no problem! I got back into yoga immediately after giving birth (actually, I never really stopped) and by some miracle, I actually weigh less now than I did before getting pregnant. So there’s that! Also, lifting a baby all day turns your arms into sculpted amazingness! Sadly, we did not make it to the Maritimes, and instead moved to the other side of the country. On the same token, we did not renovate our kitchen, and instead sold the whole house.

So this leads me to... 2018 RESOLUTIONS/GOALS:

~ Get better at BALANCE. I would like to do better at striking a more satisfying balance of being a mother, wife and an individual human. Part of this includes achieving a realistic yoga schedule for myself.

~ Learn how to care for a one year old! Get Archie into a good place in terms of sleep, nutrition, and activities. Most of all, continue loving the shit out of him.

~ Settle into life as a Vancouverite!

~ Celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary in Jasper, back where all of the magic happened.

~ Try to see all of my closest girlfriends in person this year. (Help me achieve this by coming to visit!)

I'm wishing everyone a wonderful 2018! Don't dream it, be it!
