THE GOODS BLOG: Erika's Precious Little Life - September Edition

This is a few days late because frankly, I have been way too busy to get anything accomplished!

Let's jump straight into the goings-on of August!

I continued to get myself a new identity... And I am now DONE! There is absolutely no where left for me to change my name! Mrs. Golem for the win!

Over Heritage Day long weekend, Tim and I took a roadtrip to Drumheller, Alberta. Now that we know that we're leaving, we've made an entire Alberta bucket list of things that we've always wanted to see and do which we haven't gotten around to yet. Drumheller was one of them!

We stayed at a super cute B&B!

Our B&B had horses, so I was excited to get to ride.

And we made a stop in Vulcan, Alberta as well...

It was a really fun weekend, and definitely fascinating to finally see what a strange and wonderful place Drumheller is.

I got a fun new hair-do! I had been forced to have plain and normal hair for SO LONG because of the wedding, that it was awesome to finally have some FUN again!!!

We had Nick and Lindsey's wedding in Edmonton. They had a "no posting photos on social media" rule, which is why I didn't post anything. Also, this rule generally made me fearful of taking any photos of them at all. But it was a very cute and fun wedding! (I can post some photos in here, 'cause they'll never know.) ;P

Between the ceremony and reception we had friends over to our place for a fancy little snack! Dom Pérignon champagne, cheese and charcuterie! And truffle honey! (This is my ideal life. For real.)

The tables had paper on them and they supplied crayons so that you could draw on the tables!

Nick is an Artist (that is his profession) and he drew caricatures of EACH guest on a packet of seeds as their favour! SO CUTE!!!

In the bathroom, they had stuck mustaches to the mirrors so that you could do this...

Honestly, my favourite thing about attending weddings is just seeing all of the different things that couples do with it. Every single one is different, and I love seeing how uniquely each one reflects who the couple is.

In other fun summertime happenings, we had a Pembina River day and went for an amazing float!

Tim always gets uncomfortable when we go into his work and I make him hold the trophies... He is far too modest!!! He helped to earn them!!!

And then... Of course... It was Fringe.

The Fringe Festival is a pretty all-consuming time for us, not only because we love it, but because it quite literally takes place right outside our front door. It becomes a big part of our life for the 11 days that it takes place.

My Fringe stats for this year!:

Green onion cakes consumed: 3 The festival brings such an energy and happiness to my neighbourhood, and it makes me feel so lucky and proud to be a part of it.

Oh, and just incase you haven't heard, my best bestie AND bridesmaid at each other's weddings AND Core Four for life friend is about to pop out a baby boy AT ANY MOMENT! I don't think that I have ever been so excited about a baby. (As you probably know, I am quite anti-baby, but this situation seems to be turning me!!!) I just want to see his face! I can't wait!

And Crystal came to town from Oxbow, SK! It was amazing to see her as always! She even bought Tim and I dinner since she couldn't attend our wedding. SO SWEET.

And MOST importantly... THE ROBOTS CAME BACK!!!!!!

I also had a minor surgery. :S I went to the doc for a regular check-up and I pointed out a mole that I thought looked weird. The doc recommended that I have it biopsied. So I went in for the biopsy (scared) and get informed that they're going to remove the entire thing (more scared). I realize that this is a very common thing, but I've never had to have it done before. Something about getting sliced into with a scalpel and then having to get two stitches... Not exactly my favourite kind of day. But truthfully, I didn't feel a thing and it wasn't as bad as I thought at all. I had to leave the stitches in for a week, and I had them removed yesterday. I still haven't gotten the results back yet, but honestly, I'm not even worried at all about that - I was more worried about the entire procedure!!

THEN for Labour Day long weekend we were off to London, ON for my sister-in-law's wedding! I'll probably post about this next month, because the wedding actually took place in September and also I don't have the photos edited yet. But Angela looked incredible and I'm excited to have one more family member, my brother-in-law Greg!

This coming weekend we're going to Banff, 'cause it's ALWAYS the right time for mountains. Plus I'll get to see a bunch of great friends while there!

Otherwise, September should be fairly quiet, with nothing major planned... Although we always wind up getting up to a bunch of stuff.

THIS MONTH'S SHOUT OUTS!: September 6th is Zena Domanski's 38th wedding anniversary!

Pretty glad that my parents decided to get married... Because it resulted in my life. HA HA.

September 10th is Sarah Tasker's 2nd wedding anniversary!

What a fun day this was to be a part of! You were SUCH a stunning bride, and I'm so glad that we've been able to be there for each other on our special days. You and Darren are an amazing couple, and I can't WAIT to be able to spend more time with you both!!!

September 17th is Sarah Tasker's 31st birthday!

How did I miss this when I wrote this originally?!? I'm losing my mind, I swear. Love you SO much and appreciate SO much that you came all the way to Jasper. You're really like a sister to me, since I really can't remember a time anymore that you weren't in my life. When I moved away from Toronto, you told me that no matter what, you would never leave me. And you never did. Thank you for always being the truest of friends. And have an incredible birthday and get spoiled by Darren!
