THE GOODS BLOG: Erika's Precious Little Life - October Edition

HI FRIENDS! I just wanted to send out a reminder that I love you all very much. It's true! We don't always say it enough, but I'm always thinking it. Thank you for all being great.
Please keep me in the loop of your lives, all of you! I always want to know what's going on with you, big or small!
I got my hands onto this photo from Nick and Lindsey's wedding in August.
So at the very beginning of September we were in London, Ontario for my sister-in-law's wedding. It was a lot of fun, tons of family time, and I have now gained yet another family member, my new brother-in-law Greg! My immediate family has gone from 4 people to 11 people in just a few months!
We all really hope that Tim's brother proposes to his girlfriend Mya (lots of you met her at my bachelorette/wedding) because she's awesome.
Carrie visited from Regina! Love that girl! (She can't get enough of us Edmontonians.) ;)
Then we were off to Banff for the weekend! We stayed in Banff, but we spent a lot of time in Canmore as well. Sarah came to Banff from Regina to participate in a triathlon, so of course I was there to cheer her on. Not only did she kick the triathlon's ass, but she did so with a broken collar bone. In the rain. AND THEN climbed a mountain afterwards. She scares me. She might be a robot.
We had a ton of fun EATING, hanging out with people, doing a neat hike called the Grassi Lakes Trail, and more EATING.
Tim left for Vancouver for five days on a business trip (he was directing motion-capture at EA Burnaby's studio)... On one of the days he drove up to Whistler for no apparent reason - jealous! So while he was gone I got up to some fun hangouts...
Rachelle and I spent a great day together including driving out to Discovery Wildlife Park in Innisfail.
Once Tim was back we had dinner on the Edmonton Queen Riverboat, because it's been on our Edmonton bucket list since forever. We are getting pretty serious about making sure that we accomplish all of the Edmonton things that we have always wanted to.
We also went to the Valley Zoo to say goodbye to Lucy! (We're leaving, she's not. Much to the dismay of Bob Barker...)
Tim and I took a new class together called Acro-Yoga, which I LOVED. It's yoga done in pairs, so all of the poses are very balance-based and a lot of fun. I want to keep doing this.
But BY FAR the most exciting thing that happened in September was that Amy went from this...
To THIS!
Baby boy Rhett was born on September 23rd, and I got to hold him when he was only a day old! Easily the newest baby that I've ever seen! I have to say, seeing someone so close to me have a baby has transformed my thoughts on having children quite a bit. Before, kids were pretty "take 'em or leave 'em" for me. I always assumed that I would have them, but I also would not have minded if I never had any kids at all... But now... I'm just a little bit more excited about the idea, and what that new chapter of our lives will be like. ;)
We also went to the Edmonton Comic & Entertainment Expo because I HAD to meet Jon Heder!!!
I also got the very exciting news that my wedding is going to be featured in Today's Bride (Canada) magazine!!! This is pretty much my dream come true. It feels pretty incredible to get rewarded and recognized for doing one of the things that I think that I'm best at. This all came to be because I had a jewelry designer in Toronto create the necklaces that I gave to the bridesmaids to wear at the wedding. I then sent the designer some photos of the girls wearing the necklaces. She responded that she loved the photos of the wedding, and that she was going to show them to her friend, who happens to be the editor of a bridal magazine. Next thing I know, I got an email from the editor saying how much she loved the photos and that she wants to feature us! At this point I have NO idea which issue it is going to run in, but I will certainly let you know!!! Yeeeeee!!!!! :D
MOVING UPDATE: Things are definitely rolling, regardless of how fictional it all still seems. We now have a realtor that has been working with us to determine the type of place that we're going to buy. My dream home is someplace VERY old (hopefully 100+ years) and luckily Montreal is jam-packed with those! We've also begun the process of getting the movers all arranged to come and pack/move our stuff. As of now, it seems like we will be flying out of Edmonton (permanently) on January 11th. I still have not told my work about this... Because I'm scared and I'm trying to wait for the right moment. I really don't know what I'm so worried about, I think that I'm just sad to make things so official. The plan is still that we will be going to Montreal over Remembrance Day long weekend to house-hunt and hopefully buy something. My fingers are crossed that THIS PLACE might still be available. *Current dream home!*
As for this month...
We will be coming to Regina for Thanksgiving long weekend! I'd really like to see whoever is going to be around - come to the brunch that we have planned!
Tim's birthday is on the 21st and he's finally turning 30! I'm so glad that he won't be in his 20s anymore, with me in my 30s. It makes me sound like such a cougar... Even if it's true! I intend to overly spoil Tim with crazy birthday goodness!!
Other than that, quiet month!

October 7th is Colen Quinn's 6th wedding anniversary!
Time has flown!! It feels like it was just yesterday that you and Jeff were getting married, and I loved your wedding so much! In fact, I "borrowed" a lot of your great ideas for my own wedding! ;D Now you two have baby Jack, and I'm just so overjoyed that your wonderful wedding day lead to the creation of such an adorable family. Love you guys!
October 13th is Kristen Smith's 1st wedding anniversary!
This year has really zipped on by. It feels like we were just in Kelowna celebrating your marriage! I couldn't be happier for you and Dallas and your little bun in the oven!!! You guys are incredible and I already love your little family!
October 24th is Rachelle Spence's 29th birthday!
Words can't express what you mean to me Rachelle. You were the first friend that I made after moving to Edmonton and now our friendship is 9 years old. I wouldn't be who I am without you! You are EASILY the kindest and most selfless person that I have ever met. My life is far, FAR richer for having you in it. I am so thankful for you and I love you with all of my heart!!
