THE GOODS BLOG: Erika's Precious Little Life - November Edition

This entry is a day late because I've been busy with having a guest at our house (Enobong). She's still here, but she's asleep (at 12pm) because she was out dancing until 5am last night. She's awesome.
Thankfully October was fairly nice and low-key. I had been feeling like I needed a bit of a break to slow down and re-focus. At the beginning of the month two of our married friends, Aurora and Fredi, from Toronto came to visit and stay with us, so we had fun hangs with them. We took them to First Fridays and MPROV and they were impressed by the bagels.
For Thanksgiving we made a huge feast at our place!! It was quite epic and delicious with multi-courses and different matching beverage pairings. Tim made all of the food himself, 'cause he's kind of a champion like that. Art and Vince are pretty much our Montreal family, so they came over for dinner.
The following weekend we drove off to Muskoka to spend a fall weekend at the Golem cottage. Tim's parents have recently purchased a second cottage on the same property, so now we have a lot more space for everyone. And we can bring animals now too (which we couldn't do before). So we brought Ramona and my sister-in-law Emily brought her dog TJ. It was cute to have the pet cousins meet! We celebrated a late family Thanksgiving with everyone and an early birthday for Tim. The rest of the time we mainly lazed around and enjoyed family time! Ontario is so gorgeous in the fall. Always was!
Tim's 31st birthday happened on the 21st and he is now officially "in his 30s." I haven't really even had a chance to spoil him privately yet, so that's still coming. Tim wanted to have a birthday dinner with his friends, so we went out to a totally awesome BBQ place that we love.
On Halloween, Enobong arrived! She came to Montreal from Ottawa not only to visit us, but to also attend a weekend-long swing dancing event. It's been fun hanging out with her when she hasn't been dancing so far! For Halloween Tim and I got tickets to the Rocky Horror Picture Show Halloween Ball - as soon as I heard that that was a thing, I wanted to go so badly! Being my favourite movie and all! So we dressed up like characters from the movie, and it was a ton of fun. I went as Janet from the floor show, and Tim went as Brad after they take all of his clothes away. Enobong's Halloween swing party was circus-themed, so she dressed up as a circus ring leader. We also had trick or treaters at our house for the first time EVER, since this was the first time that we have a front door at street level! It was fun getting to do that for the first time before heading out for the night!
Enobong is staying until Tuesday, so we have a bit more of fun to be had.
Next weekend I'm going to Toronto! (On a bus, by myself.) My junior high (french immersion) grade has decided to throw a reunion, and I'm pretty excited that I actually live close enough to be able to attend. I haven't seen some of these people since 1996! In Ontario (at least in my school board) you go to a different school for junior high (grades 7 & 8). I really loved that school and those years a lot. Can't wait to see everyone.
The following weekend after THAT we're going to Ottawa for my sister-in-law Angela's baby shower. I'm looking forward to a bit of fun Ottawa time.

November 9th is Erin Anderson's 27th birthday!
You're finally getting up there, Erin! Ha ha. I am so incredibly glad that we met 10 years ago in such an unconventional way. I've loved watching us change and grow over those years into the women that we are today, and I've always been so impressed by what a strong and smart girl you've always been. Even though you were "the young one" you were constantly teaching me things. I'm so glad that you're happily settled back into Vancouver life and I seriously hope to visit you sometime SOON! I love you so very much!!
November 10th is Sarah Swalm's 32nd birthday!
I've been thinking about you a lot lately Sarah, and how much I miss you! We MUST make plans to get together at Christmas when I'm in town!! You've always been such a fun and easy person to be friends with. I remember back in high school being so drawn to your ballsy and easy-going nature and wanting to be like you. You're such a warm person and I love that about you! I hope that Adam spoils you a lot this year!! Love you!
November 20th is Carrie Schill's 26th birthday!
First of all, I'm super mad that there's no photo of you and I (just us) together from my wedding. But luckily I do have this cute one from my bridal shower! Carrie. What to say? Every day I admire you more and more! You're the little sister that I never had. Remember that time we went to Berlin together? You are busy carving a path in life out for yourself and the challenges that you are willing to take speak volumes. You kick serious ass at everything you do and you're my yoga kindred spirit. I love you so incredibly much and I have no idea what I would do without your beautiful soul in my life. You have taught me far more than you probably know.
PS - It is now 1pm and Enobong is still sleeping.
