THE GOODS BLOG: Erika's Precious Little Life - November Edition

To be completely honest, this past month has been the MOST FUN EVER! I only spent a total of five full days at home and I feel like I have no idea what’s even going on in Montreal any more... And I don’t care! I spent the month in Europe, in the USA, in four different Canadian cities... And I have loved it all. I could live like a gypsy forever. I’m almost happiest this way.
I am a bit tired of the amount of times that I have had to pack, unpack, re-pack, repeat...
Once home from Europe (which I told you all about last month) we drove over to London, Ontario for my Brother-in-Law’s wedding. It was tons of fun! Mya was a gorgeous bride and of course I approved completely of her wedding dress choice (since it shared a lot of similarities to mine!). So now I have a new Sister-in-Law and all of the ladies of the family are locked in! Jeff was an excellent groom due to his famous boozy antics on the dance floor. Hooray family wedding!
I forgot to mention last month that Emily and Matt got engaged! They’re planning to get married next fall. So once that happens, we’ll be all out of weddings on the Golem side. Then it’ll just be a WAVE OF BABIES. Like seriously. If we each have at least two... THAT WILL BE WAY TOO MANY CHILDREN. Where will we put them all??? I predict that Jeff and Mya will be knocked up before Christmas.
Anyway, I’m really excited that Matt is here to stay, because he is pretty much my favourite out of everyone. Ha ha ha!
Then we drove home and promptly boarded a plane to Vancouver. We then got a car and drove down to Seattle, USA! It was really nice! It definitely reminded me of an American Vancouver. We were invited to Ben and Christine’s wedding, and as it turns out, we have a surprising amount of Seattle friends. It was super fun to see them all!
We also had a bit of time to see Seattle stuff, which was pretty neat! We went to Pike Place Market, the original Starbucks, and the Space Needle. Like tourists do.
Then we went back to Vancouver and began our awesome stay there. Tim has been having to go to Vancouver every month for the past while, so we decided that I would join him this time. It was great!! Vancouver is easily our favourite Canadian city. We ate tons, hung out with friends, and generally had a wonderful time. Every time that we’re there it doesn’t make sense to us that we don’t just live there. It’s where we’re happiest. It has everything that we value in life all right there.
While we were in Vancouver, Justin Trudeau was elected Prime Minister. This was VERY exciting! I know that some of you aren’t thrilled about this outcome, so I really hope that things turn out better than you expect. I’m pretty excited about it! He’s exactly who I wanted to win, even though I didn’t actually vote for him. I voted Green!
And I know I’m not *supposed* to say this... But I think he’s dreamy.
We also celebrated Tim’s 32nd birthday while in Vancouver by going out to a fancy and famous restaurant called Hawksworth. It was very good!!
Tim and I are very much on the same page that we see ourselves on the west coast eventually. We don’t know how quickly it will happen (I still feel like we just got to Montreal!) but we do see it as our ideal future and where we would prefer to live our lives. We love the sea and we love the mountains - it’s like our perfect utopia over there. So if all goes according to plan, we’ll be there someday!! We got home and then drove over to Ottawa! We spent a bunch of time with Angela and Greg, and of course our niece Amelia. And then we attended Enobong and Ian’s Halloween Housewarming party! Their place is very wonderful and makes me want to live in the woods very badly.
So that was a month!!
I could use some naps. But everything was so great.
I’m feeling pretty blind sided by the fact that it’s now November which means that Christmas is very soon. I think that running around so much has skewed my perception of time quite a lot.
My parents are coming to visit today! They’ll be here for the rest of the week and it will be really great to see them. Tim and my Dad have tickets to a Canadiens game, so I’m excited for them to get to do that.
Next week we were supposed to go to the Dominican Republic (with my parents) for a close family friend wedding (Holly and Jon). But we haven’t booked anything yet and it’s starting to look less and less possible. Which sucks. I would love it if some miracle would happen and we would be able to book it right at the last minute and go!!! Stay tuned for said miracle.
We also have another family cottage weekend out in Muskoka later in the month. And Tim is going back out to Vancouver again for work. And I guess we’ll also be preparing for Christmas, which seems completely crazy.

November 9th is Erin Anderson’s 28th birthday!
You still have a couple of years in your 20s left! Make the most of them!! I’m really impressed at the great year that we’ve had together. It must be a record! I have loved spending so much time with you and being reminded that our friendship has always been a lot of fun. You’re so smart and talented, not to mention independent and strong! I love you way too much and that includes your hilarious Trudeau texts!
November 10th is Sarah Swalm’s 33rd birthday!
I love all of the amazingly fun times that we’ve shared! You’re one of the most powerfully strong women that I know and you inspire me so much. I give you so much credit for being the super woman that you are! I miss you a bunch and am sending so much love your way! I hope that Adam spoils you a lot!! I can’t wait to see you at Christmas, I hope!
November 20th is Carrie Schill’s 27th birthday!
Remember how we just finished having the MOST FUN EVER? I’ve been thinking about it a whole lot lately. I miss it all. I am so unbelievably grateful to have someone like you to go on adventures with. It was the best! I miss our tipi and I even miss our string of injuries. Ha ha! I am so proud of everything that you have accomplished this year. You may not realize it, but you have done it ALL!!! You literally showed the world who’s boss and I am in awe. Remember that hot British boyfriend that you now have? Yeah, Andy had better spoil you a lot! I love not knowing WHERE I’ll see you next, but knowing that it’ll probably be someplace amazing. I love you!!
