THE GOODS BLOG: Erika's Precious Little Life - May Edition

April was awesome because it felt like I was out and about a lot, having a ton of fun.
First I was in Edmonton for 10 whole days, and it felt incredibly amazing to be there. I was pretty much in tears about being "home" the entire time. I have now lived in four major Canadian cities, but it's safe to say that Edmonton has a secure hold on my heart at the moment - so much of everything that I am is there. Being there feels like freedom and independence to me. Obviously reuniting the Core Four was the best part, and I spent every single day of my trip with some combination of those girls. They're my family.
The reason that I went to Edmonton when I did was because of Hedley concerts. We had tickets to their Edmonton, Calgary and Red Deer shows. As usual, our Hedley adventures were the sort of experiences that amp us up and make us want to quit our jobs. HA HA! (Already done, in my case.) Of course I exercised my radio connections in Edmonton to get backstage, got in some nice chats with the boys after shows and at bars, and even got ourselves into a meet & greet for free. It felt like I was 22 all over again. Overall, it was a pretty magical few days.
My trip within a trip to Calgary was awesome because we stayed at our favourite hotel, Hotel Arts. AND I got to see all of my best Calgary ladies!! Everyone probably thought that I was moving far away forever, never to be seen or heard from again. BUT NO! If anything, you're all going to be getting MORE of me! ;D
Of course I visited SONiC, which made my heart sad. But also happy because it still felt like I was a part of the place.
And of course a hangout with the Edmonton "Regina faction!"
It even worked out amazingly that Kristen came to Edmonton from Vancouver while I was there and I finally got to meet her adorable daughter and the babies hung out and it was wonderful.
It's safe to say that I think I did a pretty great job of seeing EVERYONE, and I was so glad that I did. You're all wonderful loves in my life.
Upon returning home to Montreal, I had received undeniable proof that I am now officially a Quebec resident...
It's sugaring off time in Quebec, which is a major part of the culture here, so I was super happy to get to go out and experience a real cabane à sucre. Stuff like this makes me enjoy living here a lot.
The springtime weather has gotten pretty beautiful and I even got back onto a bike after like 15 years. (I thought that I had forgotten how to do it!) They have an entire bike rental system here called BIXI that is huge and everyone uses it. It's like an entire category of transportation.
For Easter my sister-in-law and brother-in-law (Angela & Greg) came over from Ottawa and we had family Easter dinner! It was also their first time coming to see our house.
Then Lianna (one of Tim's best friends) visited for a night from Oakville.
THEN my mother-in-law and father-in-law visited for a weekend from London and also got to see our house for the first time.
SO LOTS OF GOING PLACES AND LOTS OF VISITORS! This is totally the way that I like things to be though. :)
I am also still going to yoga as strong as ever, and it's getting to the point where I want to bust out yoga poses wherever I go.
Alright. So that was a crazy month. But I can do better: Enter May.
This weekend we're hopping in the car and driving down to Toronto. It's my lifelong friend Sarah's Baby Shower, and I LOVE that I can now participate in my Toronto best friends' life events. It's weird and wonderful to me that I have such easy access to my hometown of Toronto again. The band Ten Second Epic is playing a farewell tour and I have tickets to their Montreal show. I figured that I HAD to be there, given that I feel like I had been so immersed in that whole scene back in Edmonton in 2005-2007. It'll be a fun blast from the past. We're all adults now. ;P
Tim is going to Edmonton for a week, sadly without me. :(
My cousin Marissa and her boyfriend are coming to Montreal to visit from Ottawa over May Long Weekend. We're going to go see Cirque du Soleil: Kurios with them, which is playing in the Old Port. (Cirque was invented here.)
THEN... Oh you know, I'm just going to go to Europe.
While I was in Edmonton, Hedley announced three European tour dates for May. And being that we were currently riding a Hedley high, it was VERY easy for crazy ideas to start brewing in our heads. The thing about our "crazy ideas" is that they don't stay "ideas" for long. We actually DO these things. Next thing we know, Nicole, Rachelle and I had booked an entire trip to Berlin, Germany and Paris, France. I have never been to Europe at all! Ever! And then Carrie made plans to meet up with us in Berlin! So it's real and I cannot wait to see the look on the Hedley boys' faces. I'll be in Berlin for 2 days and Paris for 3 days - definitely a whirlwind trip, but I've always wanted to be the kind of girl that "just goes to Europe for the weekend." Ha ha!
AND the fun does not stop there! Upon me, Nicole and Rachelle's return to Montreal... Amy, her husband Ray, and their son Rhett are arriving the next day and THEN it's all of us in Montreal for over a week! They're all coming to visit us in Montreal and to see our house and to have tons of fun in my new city! We're even having our official housewarming party while they're all here! The Core Four means serious business when it comes to friendship. ;) So the adventures continue and I am loving it all so much! Having a job really got in the way! ;P

I hope that you're feeling good and settled into your new house and that Curtis and Wyatt have some plans to spoil you! You're such a strong and determined lady and I love so much that things are falling into place so beautifully for you now. You've been a wonderful and devoted friend to me and I appreciate and love you so much! May 18th is Nicole Thibault's 32nd birthday!
Words cannot describe the special bond that you and I have, Nicole. I love you like a sister and we simply "get" each other. I've always felt that we often see things the same way, and because of that we've been able to be on the same page without using words. So what I'm trying to say is: We may have psychic powers. Not to alarm you or anything. The love in my heart for you is insurmountable and I cannot wait for our next (soon!) adventure. May 27th is Krystie Coutu's 28th birthday!
Your first birthday as a new Mom! I have been absolutely loving watching your new life unfold and I have been feeling endless amounts of happiness for you. I'm sure that Trevor and Xander have something special up their sleeves for you! You are forever in my heart as one of my most special friends. You mean so very much to me. I hope to get my butt over to BC A-STAT because I am dying to see you and to meet baby. I love you so much! May 28th is Heather Petrychyn's 3rd wedding anniversary!
Time sure is flying by! I can't believe that it's already been three years since we celebrated your big day in Regina. You and Curtis deserve every happiness and I hope that your anniversary is a wonderful one!
May 31st is Susan Murphy's 1st wedding anniversary!
Year one in the bag!!! What a year! We were so honoured to be a part of you and Matt's special day in Edmonton, especially since the guest list was so small. Wishing you many, many, many more happy married years!
