THE GOODS BLOG: Erika's Precious Little Life - May Edition

HOW is it already May?? What is this year?? I feel like it’s going to be Christmas before I know it. Now that I’ve lived in Vancouver for all four seasons, I think that the thing that I appreciate the most is how long the spring and fall seasons are. They are true versions of those seasons. And I’m excited to get back to beach season!!
I’ve been feeling pretty good lately. Life feels like it’s under control. I feel a sense of calm toward my current reality, which is a nice place to be.
April was full of FRIENDS! It was tons of fun!
First it was Easter. We had a nice Easter brunch up on Grouse mountain. Archie met a giant traumatizing bunny, ha ha.
The Easter Bunny came to our house and Archie loved looking for the eggs and tossing them into his basket. It’s super cute now that he understands things a bit more.
Rachelle was in Vancouver for a short visit (one night) from Red Deer! We maximized our short amount of time together and actually crammed in quite a lot!
Then Sarah was in Vancouver for a week from Tisdale! We did many things; such as eat super expensive, ballin’ sushi. We even got to meet Chef Tojo, Canada’s most famous sushi chef.

Sarah and I did it together! We’d been wanting to commemorate our 20+ years of being best friends and we finally did it! I love that she gets to be one of my lucky charms on my arm. ♥
Then Nadine was in Vancouver from Regina! She came with her daughter Destiny and overlapped with Sarah’s trip so that we could all have a big ‘ol VanCity funtime together! It was so great! We even all went whale watching, which was quite an amazing experience.
So yes. The door is wide open to any of you who want to come and visit!!! We would love to have you and to show you a great time!
The weather has mainly been gorgeous and we’ve even had our first beach day of the year! Archie was not thrilled about the ocean last summer (too cold) but this time he wants IN! I think that the swimming lessons have paid off.
We somewhat spontaneously took a weekend trip up to Whistler (about a two hour drive), which was a lot of fun even though it was rainy the entire time. It’s just fun to be somewhere else! We like having Archie experience as many new things as possible.
In other news, I have now been to four casting auditions. I got one callback. I got put on hold once... But still haven’t booked any jobs. Although these seem like pretty good stats so far. Still just enjoying the experience!
My parents are moving! They have sold their (way too big) house in University Park East which they had been living in for the past 20 years and have bought a townhouse in Hillsdale. This will be much better for them! I feel like pretty much everyone’s parents are doing a similar thing right now.
I have also been hard at work on something that I will be launching very soon! If I’ve seemed distant lately, it’s probably because I’ve been using my very few hours of free time working on it every day. Can’t wait to share more ASAP!!! You guys will be the first to know (and will probably get a sneak peek)!
Life with Archie:
Archie now has nine teeth, two of which are molars that are in the process of coming in. This has made him somewhat miserable, but he’s also dealing with it remarkably well.
Still not walking... I feel like it’s a waiting game at this point. Like, he CAN walk, he just hasn’t realized it yet. All he does is walk (as long as one hand is on something) and he climbs up onto things like crazy. He squats without holding onto anything all the time... Any minute now.
I can ask him to do so many things now and he understands completely. It’s really amazing. He can point to various body parts if I name them and he knows a bunch of different hand actions.
He takes amazing long naps every day (usually two hours+ twice a day) and so I have real time to do things again.
Things are good. I love his little face. ♥
Here’s what’s up for May in my life!
This weekend Amy is here for a business trip but will also be spending some hangs with me, of course.
We then have a five-day spring getaway planned down in Sunny Shores, Washington, USA. We’ve rented a fancy cottage on the sea with a bunch of friends (7 adults, 4 kids). So I’m really looking forward to that! We’ll be there over Mother’s Day.
No plans for Victoria Day long weekend but we’ll see if anything materializes.
And then at the end of the month, Rachelle returns! This time for a real visit for a week! (Vancouver friends! We need to make some plans for this!)

You are one of my favourite humans and I am so grateful for your existence. I’m so glad that I have you branded on my body for life. You are in my heart forever and I love you more than I can say. The sooner that we’re in a love pile, the better.
May 27th is Krystie Coutu’s 32nd birthday!
I am so glad that I live close to you now!! And so grateful for the hangouts that we’ve had so far! Let’s plan many, many more!!! I hope that the boys spoil you like crazy. Any fun birthday plans?? I want in! Love you tons, let’s yoga ASAP.
May 28th is Heather Petrychyn’s 7th wedding anniversary!
The time has flown like crazy! I hope that you and Curtis get to celebrate (although you are probably doing so currently in Las Vegas!) and have some romance!
May 31st is Susan Murphy’s 5th wedding anniversary!
Five years is a big deal! Your first half decade! I hope that you and Matt get to have some special time to celebrate, despite the fact that you are currently giant-pregnant!!
