THE GOODS BLOG: Erika's Precious Little Life - March Edition

February flew by way too fast and I do not feel ready for March and everything that March means for my life this year. I’m attempting to stay calm and keep it together.

I’ve had a lot of Crystal this month, which has been awesome! She came to Montreal for a weekend (for the first time ever) and we showed her all of the stuff and mostly made her eat way too much.

Then the following weekend, Emily and Matt visited so we pretty much did the exact same thing all over again.

It was Valentine’s Day! We kept up our new tradition of posting a photo of us doing an Acro Yoga pose! I love that we play.

Emily and Matt asked us to take engagement photos of them because they didn’t want to pay for a real photographer to do it. Tim and I are clearly NOT real photographers and we don’t pretend to be, but I guess because we do take a lot of pictures, they trusted us to do them. I think that they turned out cute!

We went snowboarding again for the first time in forever! We didn’t get to go last winter at all, which sucked. We have lots of ski hills out here and I was glad to finally take advantage. We went to a hill called Bromont which is about an hour from Montreal. It’s not the Rockies, that’s for sure, but it was still pretty decent and fun riding.

Tim’s friend Dave came to visit, but I barely saw him because I ran off to Ottawa! I picked Crystal up along the way and we spent the weekend with Enobong and toured the Ottawa sights!

This is a solid 24K gold bar! It was 28 pounds and worth over half a million dollars!

So that was February! And now I have no choice but to be faced with March and everything that goes along with it. We leave VERY SOON for Asia.

I’m so excited and nervous!!! I feel like we’re mostly prepared, but there are also still some things that we need to do. This coming weekend is our LAST weekend to get everything done. We’ll be spending the majority of March in Thailand, Indonesia, and Philippines. I will do my best to post updates, but I’m not sure what the wi-fi/reception situation will be like. I will likely post small updates and check-ins on Facebook and photos on Instagram. If I have time to post photos on Facebook I will, but it’s a bigger job so it might not be possible. We’ve never traveled quite like this before and I really hope that it’s everything that we dream it to be! I hope that by the time that we return, winter will be completely over, meaning that I only have 11 more days of winter left. HOORAY!

BABY WATCH 2016:

We went to the travel clinic and got all of our shots/prescriptions for our trip. While there, I asked the doctor about trying to conceive on this trip and if Zika virus is a concern. The doctor said that Zika is NOT a concern in this area and she almost seemed annoyed that the media is blowing this whole thing out so much. She also recommended that we DO try to conceive. She said that couples are way more likely to conceive on vacations when they’re all relaxed and having fun. She also said that she wouldn’t have had any of her children if they hadn’t been conceived while on vacay. Ha ha. So we’re gonna give this thing a go! This will be month #1 of using no protection and seeing what happens.

According to my app, those star days should be my fertile days. I showed this to Enobong and she said that it looks correct. I bought my very-first-ever pregnancy test to bring with us. So yeah! I’m terrified, but I guess we’re gonna attempt this.

(I’m well aware that it probably won’t work on the first try, but just the fact that we are now going to be allowing this to potentially happen is a pretty big and scary thing for me.)

I WILL let you guys know if/when anything does happen. Immediately.

But the task at hand right now is to have a freakin’ incredible time in Asia, the likes of which we have never seen before!!!!

March 12th is Kristen Smith’s 32nd birthday!

You have such a good heart and I couldn’t be happier to call you one of my closest friends. I hope that your day is super special and that Dallas extra spoils you!! I miss your freakin’ face so much and want to grind all up into your personal space. I LOVE YOU TOO MUCH!! ♥

March 19th is Sarah Swalm’s 5th wedding anniversary!
