THE GOODS BLOG: Erika's Precious Little Life - January Edition

As you can see, this blog entry is already nine days late. I've been living out of a suitcase for three weeks and will continue to do so for another three weeks. Things have been just a little bit out of the ordinary.
Right now as I type this I'm sitting in my apartment while movers dismantle and pack away everything that we own. This is really the first bit of free time that I have had in a while. It's my birthday tomorrow and I can't even think about that right now. I can't believe that I'm getting on a plane in two days and not coming back...
December was packed with festivities, as December does.
Susan and I had our last monthly hangout together before I leave. :(
The Core Four and I had our annual Christmas party at The Melting Pot, which is always our favourite.
And then we also had our last girls night together too. :(
My last day at SONiC/The Bounce after almost seven years was on December 19th, and it was an awful, sad day. I cried so much and it took a lot out of me emotionally. I felt ready to leave, but at the same time, it was super difficult to face my last day. They threw me a big sushi lunch at work with a cake and it was all very touching. I felt very loved and like I would be missed. I still feel a little heartbroken over it.
After a day like that we went roller skating to cheer me up. :)
We then had BioWare's Christmas party, which was a pretty awesome event as always! It was Mad Hatter themed and I got my hair and makeup done for the party which made it even more fun! Remember how I was going to try and have sex with Tim in his office? Well that didn't work out, sadly. Normally the party is held in the hotel that is attached to Tim's office tower - easy access to the office. But this year it was held at a different hotel which pretty much ruined those plans. Ah well!
After that we flew off to London, Ontario. We spent six days with Tim's family and friends (over actual Christmas) and it was a lot of fun. His family is really big which makes things interesting in a way that I'm not used to.
After that we flew to Regina and spent six days with my family and friends (over New Years) and it was a wonderful time as well. I'm glad that I got to see a few of you!! I got to celebrate my birthday early with my family as well while there. It was generally a pretty low-key time, which is exactly what I was in the mood for.
I really hope that you all had wonderful, memorable, special holidays surrounded by those that you love the most! I was certainly thinking of you all over Christmas (hence the texts). :)
For January... There's just a whole pile of who-knows-what going on.
We took one final Rocky mountain holiday for a week to snowboard at three of our favourite spots, but I'll get more into that next time.
Then we got home to Edmonton and the movers came to pack up our things (happening currently), they load everything into the moving truck tomorrow, and then we fly to Montreal the next day.
And like I mentioned earlier, tomorrow is my birthday. I will be 32. And that is weird.
We are throwing a birthday/farewell party tomorrow night at Pampa, and I know that will be an evening of many mixed emotions. Can't wait to see everyone!!
Tim starts his first day of work at BioWare Montreal on Monday the 13th and we get possession of our house on Wednesday the 15th. Next week is a doozy. It will take about two weeks for all of our stuff to arrive, so in the meantime we will be living in a furnished corporate apartment until we can live in our own house. We'll also use this in-between time to do any work (painting) in the new place before all of the furniture is in there.
The rest of this month will definitely be focused around settling in and re-building our home.
Sorry if this entry seemed rushed! Things are a little bit crazy! Thinking of all of you and am forever grateful for all of your support in whatever I do. A girl couldn't ask for better friends.

I am so excited to live closer to you Enobong! With you now in Ottawa and me in Montreal, we'll only be two hours apart! I'm hoping that BOTH of our 32nd years involves lots of time spent together! You are wonderful and I love you. You're brave and determined and you're creating the right path for yourself in life. You have taught me so much and have always been such a wonderful friend!
