THE GOODS BLOG: Erika's Precious Little Life - December Edition
Updated: Jun 18, 2021
I really cannot believe that it’s already December and the weather in Montreal isn’t helping. We haven’t seen snow yet (not that has stayed on the ground at all), and it has been rainy (but also sometimes sunny) and around 5-10 degrees on most days. So first of all, it doesn’t feel like winter or Christmas. And second of all, I’m bracing for some truly awful weather shit to happen soon and I’m not looking forward to it. Out of everywhere that I have lived, Montreal winter is the worst and my least favourite.
November was a lot quieter than things have been lately, which has actually been pretty nice. I guess I did miss just being in my own house. With my stuff. Ha ha!
My parents came to visit at the beginning of the month! It was so great to spend time with them and Tim and my Dad had awesome seats at the Canadiens game (when my Dad bought the tickets he did that thing where you throw hundies around the room).

Then my parents left for the Dominican, which we DID NOT end up joining on, which sucked and was super sad. Sometimes it’s hard for me to realize that we simply cannot do it all. But I wish that we could. And we sure do try.
Hedley’s latest album, Hello, came out! Obviously, this is exciting for me. I have been enjoying it thoroughly. I’m more excited about the tour in the spring! It’s like a magical Hedley Christmas that only comes once every two years. Ha ha! Things may or may not have gotten a little out of hand when it came to buying tickets. I’m going to FIVE concert dates! Montreal (April 22nd), Ottawa (April 23rd) with Enobong, Regina (May 6th) with Rachelle, Calgary (May 13th) with Rachelle, Amy and Nicole, and Edmonton (May 14th) with Rachelle, Amy and Nicole. I’ll probably hang around in the west (Regina and Edmonton) for 2-3 weeks around that time, so I wanna see all of you guys from those cities as well!

My parents returned to Montreal after the Dominican, before going back home to Regina. So I got a bit more of them, which was great.

We had a fall Muskoka weekend at the cottage, and it was fun to see everyone. It was pretty chilly and we spent most of the time curled up in front of the fireplace. I was SO SURE that Jeff and Mya would tell us that Mya is pregnant, but she’s not. So I might be wrong about my prediction!

Tim went back to Vancouver for another week.
When he got back we put up our Christmas tree, so at least our house feels festive now!

As far as yoga accomplishments, I thought that I would share this photo, since it seemed to freak a lot of people out on Instagram when I posted it. The funny thing is that while a lot of poses are SUPER challenging for me, this one is not. My body just knows how to do this. Ha ha ha!

BABY WATCH 2016:
I started taking prenatal vitamins yesterday. I am officially turning my body into a glorious baby-growing temple. It’s scary. I also just found out that one of my yoga teachers is 4 months pregnant (with being away so much lately, I guess I hadn't seen her in a while) so I’m really tempted to ask to sit down with her and ask a ton of questions. I feel like she knows the answers to pretty much everything that I want to know, based on our similar lifestyles and living in the same city.

And here we are in December, rolling on into Christmas.
My favourite hipster craft fair, Puces POP is next weekend. Tim and I plan to have our own little Christmas at home on the 17th to exchange gifts with each other. Then Tim’s ultra-glam work Christmas party is on the 18th - we didn’t get to go last year with the way that our travel plans worked out, so I’m excited to finally get to do the Montreal one for the first time! Pro hair and makeup is going to be a thing!!
And then it’s Christmas Tour 2015!
The Golems have us for real Christmas this year. We’re heading to London on December 20th. And we’re getting there by the VIA train, which will be so much fun! We have a week in London and then we fly to Regina on December 28th! We’ll be there for a week also! And of course I’m looking forward to seeing ALL OF YOU who are there!!! So that’s December 28th (late) until January 5th. I’ll probably try to throw together a Bushwakker night or something. I also currently have no New Years plans. The majority of my time will be busy with my family, but I really want to see all of you guys too.
I am so grateful to each of you and for the roles that you have played in my life. I am not kidding when I say that you ladies are LOCKED IN. Forever. Without escape. (Don’t worry, you’ll develop Stockholm syndrome and it will all be okay.) I hope that you know how much I care about and love you all. Your happiness makes me happy, and I want each of you to have it alllllllllllll. You’re all so strong and determined and amazing, that there is no way that I could possibly screw up with you as role models and support. I don’t need to have squad goals, because my goal has been achieved and my squad kicks ass.
You guys are my favourite.
