THE GOODS BLOG: Erika's Precious Little Life - April Edition

Hello my lady loves! I hope that all is well and wonderful in your worlds! This past month seems to have flown by.
A quick recap is that our first house guests visited; some of Tim's Ontario friends, so we had a pretty good weekend having fun and seeing the sights with them. Spring is cabane à sucre time in Quebec, so we've been having a lot of tire d'érable. (This is when the sap starts flowing in the maple trees, and they start tapping them to make maple syrup.) It's an entire massive part of the culture here.
We roadtripped over to Muskoka to spend time on the lake at the family cottage. It's about a 7 hour drive for us, but we don't mind taking trips like that and are very used to them. It was a ton of fun just to hang out and relax in the beautiful wilderness. I'm looking forward to going back in the summer a lot. I still feel pretty overwhelmed by Tim's huge family, but they're all so awesome.
Speaking of yoga, I have gotten SO into it. I finally found a forever home for my yoga practice in Montreal at a studio called Naada Yoga. I love it. I've been going three times a week without fail, and I already feel a ton better in general as far as health, energy, body image, happiness... It's amazing what it can do. Come visit me and I'll take you there! I also found out that there is a studio in Muskoka (Gravenhurst) that offers stand up paddleboard yoga on the water. I am beyond excited to try it.
And then Hedley.
This year is now 10 years since this whole Hedley business began with me. As you'll recall, I had just moved to Edmonton from Regina, started watching the second season of Canadian Idol that summer and subsequently fell in love with Jacob Hoggard. He then went on to continue in his band Hedley, and my entire world changed as I met new friends and mapped out an entirely different life for myself. I really do have Hedley to thank for many of my best friends, and ultimately my entire current life, including Tim.
So I'm on a bit of a Hedley "tour" of my own at the moment! I saw them in Montreal and then we drove to Ottawa and I saw them there as well! My sister-in-law lives in Ottawa, so it was a good chance to hang out with her and my brother-in-law. And I went to the concert with Enobong, which was awesome!!! (My two cousins and aunt and uncle also live in Ottawa, which makes it a pretty good place for me to see people.)
Here are a few more peeks at what is going on inside my home! I am loving the feeling of it.
And now as for April... I am currently writing this while sitting in the airport! Because I'm on my way to Edmonton! I'll be in Alberta for 10 entire days (Tim is staying home - well sort of, he'll actually be going to Boston while I'm away to represent BioWare at PAX) and the Hedley "tour" continues because I will be seeing their show in Edmonton, Calgary and Red Deer! I'm super excited to be going "home" and to love the crap outta my friends and to love the crap outta my city. My old city. There will be a lot of eating. A LOT. I have 10 days to cram in eating all of my favourite things. And I will, oh I will.
For the rest of the month I'm excited about going out to an actual cabane à sucre in the country, Record Store Day, and possibly going snowboarding at Mont Tremblant over Easter weekend if the conditions are still half-decent. Hooray for nicer springtime weather!!!

You deserve to have a beautiful day where you're the star, and I hope that that's exactly what you get! I really hope that I'll get to see you while I'm in Edmonton so that I can spread some birthday love your way! I'll always be thanking you for being my first Regina friend, and I love you always.
April 7th is Melanie Watson's 33rd birthday!
I'm sad that we didn't get a picture together at my wedding! :( I think about you often Melanie, and what a wonderfully fun person you are. I can't wait to see you next month!! I want to hear all about your latest adventures. Missing you always and loving you a ton!!
April 10th is Amy Bull's 29th birthday!
It's the last year of your 20s Ames! This means that I pretty much knew you for every year of your 20s, ha ha! What a decade it has been! You got married, I got married, you had a baby... I did not. HA HA! Just the thought that I will be able to give you a kiss to the center TONIGHT makes me want to cry. I love you SO MUCH. I am so grateful for your friendship and everything that you have meant to me.
April 18th is Colen Quinn's 32nd birthday!
Again, I'm sad that I don't have a picture of you and I from my wedding. :( You have been by my side forever Colen, and I can't imagine the world without you. We are the perfect example of how time and distance doesn't change a thing, and you are much more like a sister to me. Dying to see you next month!! Love you with every inch of my heart.
April 18th is Nadine Bercier's 32nd birthday!
Nadine, THIS IS YOUR YEAR and I am so excited and proud to watch it happen for you. If there is one person that deserves ultimate happiness, it is you! A new house, baby and marriage sure is covering all of the bases! I am going to be at your wedding with freakin' bells on and I cannot wait. I love you so much!
April 18th is Lacey Suttie's 34th birthday!
I aspire to be so much like you, Lacey. To me, you are the perfect example of balance. I have learned so much from you! I am SO excited for you to welcome a new baby this year and so excited to see you this weekend! You are wonderful inside and out and I love you with all of my heart.
