Stuff and things!
It's finally spring and finally getting warmer out! I feel like I am emerging from a cocoon! I feel like I haven't felt warmth in six months! I feel like I can leave the house again!
Probably the biggest news to come out of last month is that Enobong is getting married. This is insanely exciting because she has only been dating her fiancé Ian since about October. When it's right, it's right! I met Ian back in November and he's totally perfect for her. I couldn't be more excited! The wedding is in Regina in August, and even more exciting still is that I'm one of her bridesmaids!!! I am so incredibly honoured!
I decided to become a "rep" for Pura Vida Bracelets. It didn't cost me anything to join, and I already buy/like the bracelets, so I figured why not get a discount? You can enjoy my discount too! I love them because they totally match the boho girl that I feel that I am. This is the first and last time that I will mention this (unless you ask about it). I definitely did NOT join in order to "sell things." It's more of a fun like-minded community for me to be a part of.
I also have another pretty interesting thing on the go! As you all know, I'm a huge lover and contributor of Urbanspoon. I am currently Montreal's #4 top contributor. WELL, Urbanspoon has been bought out by a company called Zomato. Zomato is very similar to Urbanspoon, however they're much larger and way more global. Shortly after this acquisition took place, I was contacted by Zomato's Montreal Community Manager. She wanted to meet with me to discuss the upcoming changes and discuss my blog (under construction). She really made me feel like I was a valued member of the food scene! As the launch of Zomato takes place in Montreal, I have decided that I would like to be more involved and have applied for the position of Content Associate with them. The job is basically to help curate their website, which is already something that I currently do (for free) on Urbanspoon. I'm very curious to hear more about it and see if anything pans out! Something like this is WAY MORE what I currently see myself doing.
We had our epic dinner at Cabane à Sucre Au Pied de Cochon! "Epic" is an understatement. It was one of the best meals of my life and I think we're going to be required to go do this every year from now on. Everyone is welcome to join!!! My BLOG about this entire food ordeal is the best way to hear about the entire experience. I am still having dreams about those duck fat crepes...
We went to Ottawa as planned to visit with Angela and Greg during Angela's 38th week of being pregnant! We only stayed for one night, but it was nice to hang out with them and to see Ang looking so huge. They did not find out the sex of the baby, and I was totally convinced that it was going to be a boy after seeing her! Tim also went to Vancouver for three days on a business trip to direct a motion capture shoot.
...Four days later, Amelia was born! A girl! I can't believe that I'm someone's aunt and that I have a niece! It makes me feel so grown up! Originally we had planned to return to Ottawa right away, but Angela decided that she would rather wait until they were back at home. So we planned on going back to Ottawa on the weekend (last weekend).
BUT THEN I started to have some weird discomfort in my front lower abdomen. I started to get concerned when after about five days it had not gone away. So I figured that I would just pop into a walk-in clinic to find out what a doc thought. WELL, that turned into a thing! The walk-in doc suggested that I should go straight to the hospital to get proper tests done because he thought it might be appendicitis. This seemed unlikely to me because I was hardly in that much pain. But now I was good and paranoid, so we went to the hospital. They admitted me right away and I spent the whole day there running tests and they even gave me an IV. Blood test, urine test, X-rays, a gyne exam, an ultrasound... It was actually really comforting that they were so super thorough. All tests came back perfectly healthy. In the end the doctor concluded that nothing was wrong with me and that I was absolutely fine. His best guess was that maybe it was some indigestion or that I had strained my back because the pain can sometimes travel to the nerves in the front. Which I suppose is possible with all of the yoga and backbending that I do. Since then the discomfort has totally gone away and now I feel completely back to my old self! So that was weird!
This was all happening when we were supposed to be going to Ottawa. Thankfully Angela suggested that we should wait until the following weekend (this coming weekend) instead to come visit, because her parents and also Emily will be there and we could all have a family Easter dinner together. So now THAT'S the plan.

Things happening in April!
Well, like I said, we are now going to Ottawa this weekend to finally meet our niece. I've never known a baby in my own family before. It's very weird. I'm gonna be her cool Aunt, fo sho.
Tim is off to San Francisco for four days because he was chosen to make a presentation at some conference there. It's called DevCon, which is short for Developer Conference, which means pretty much nothing to me. Ha ha. Way to go, husband!
I'm also going back to Ottawa later in the month to help Enobong go wedding dress shopping!!
And that's really it! April is super quiet and I just wanna be outside and walk around to places and go hard on yoga.

It's your special day TODAY! I hope that it's extra wonderful and that Joe spoils you! I'll never forget how you rescued me when I first moved to Regina and became my first friend and introduced me to all of our other friends. Who even knows where I would be today without you! You're an amazing mamma lion and I respect that so much about you. Love you and miss you!
April 7th is Melanie Watson's 34th birthday!
It has been so incredible getting to have so much more of you in my life this past year!! I've loved coming to see you in Toronto, you coming to Montreal, and both of us meeting up for lake adventures! You're one of my oldest friends who I cherish with all of my heart. Our long friendship means everything to me. Love you so much!!
April 10th is Amy Bull's 30th birthday!
I don't believe it Amy, you're the dirty thirty!!! Ray better have some super awesome spoilings planned because this is a big one! I have no clue what I would ever do without a best friend like you in my life. I don't even WANT to make "new friends" because I already have the BEST ones. I can't wait to see you SO SOON!!!!!!! You know that I love you with all of my heart!!!!!
April 18th is Colen Quinn's 33rd birthday!
More than anything, you have inspired me with your beautiful strength. We have been by each other's sides though so many things, and for almost as long as I can remember. I would be nothing without you. I'm sure that Jeff will do something special for your day, because if anyone deserves to be celebrated, it's you. I love you so incredibly much. My heart is with your heart!
April 18th is Nadine Ottenbreit's 33rd birthday!
You're another person who has taught me everything that there is to know about strength. I am inspired constantly by your wonderful attitude towards life, regardless of the darker things that can go on within it. You're one of the most amazing people that I know and I'm the thankful and lucky one to know you. Kyle will surely spoil you!! I love you a ton!
April 18th is Lacey Suttie's 35th birthday!
I've said it once and I'll say it again: You are the coolest Mom out there and I want to be you. You honestly make me WANT to have kids. And the whole time, you do it all while looking so fabulous! Dallas had better spoil you, because someone with such an amazing heart deserves nothing less. You're the best and I love you!
