Eat Every Roll at The Eatery: Day 17
My personal favourite sushi restaurant in Vancouver is The Eatery in Kitsilano. (You'll find it featured in the Worldwide Faves section of this blog!) I like it because it's super unique, an amazingly fun atmosphere, casual, not too expensive, located in my neighbourhood... And most of all because the sushi is funky, innovative and exciting! It's a sushi party every time and you're invited!!
The best thing on the menu is their rolls. They offer sixty nine different rolls to choose from!!! Each one is very interesting and far from your average roll. Recently, it occurred to me what I must do. I must try every single one of their funky sushi rolls. I am going to visit The Eatery once a week (Sushi Sunday!), order four rolls each time, and keep doing so until I have tried them all. My husband is going to help with this project in order to provide a second opinion. Sushi Sunday: Day 17
Starburst ~ Tempura yam, mango, cucumber, cream cheese, topped with avocado & coconut. Yum! The tempura and cream cheese added a great flavour and lots of texture. The mango and coconut made it tropical! Erika: 4/5 ~ Tim: 3/5 ~ AVERAGE: 3.5/5 Spicy Veggie ~ Avocado, cucumber, asparagus, lettuce, and carrot with dragon sauce. This is like a big salad. Very fresh. But not much sushi flavour. Erika: 2.5/5 ~ Tim: 2.5/5 ~ AVERAGE: 2.5/5 Veggie Soy Roll ~ Mango, cream cheese, cucumber, wrapped in soy bean sheet. Very fruity with the mango. I liked the cream cheese and soybean sheet but there wasn't enough going on. Erika: 2.5/5 ~ Tim: 2/5 ~ AVERAGE: 2.25/5 The Sunshine ~ Lettuce, mango, avocado, spinach goma-ae, carrots rolled in a soy bean sheet. Pretty salad-y. I like the mango and soybean sheet. Erika: 2.5/5 ~ Tim: 2/5 ~ AVERAGE: 2.25/5 Keep following along to find out which rolls will end up in our sushi hall of fame!
