Eat Every Roll at The Eatery: Day 15
My personal favourite sushi restaurant in Vancouver is The Eatery in Kitsilano. (You'll find it featured in the Worldwide Faves section of this blog!) I like it because it's super unique, an amazingly fun atmosphere, casual, not too expensive, located in my neighbourhood... And most of all because the sushi is funky, innovative and exciting! It's a sushi party every time and you're invited!!
The best thing on the menu is their rolls. They offer sixty nine different rolls to choose from!!! Each one is very interesting and far from your average roll. Recently, it occurred to me what I must do. I must try every single one of their funky sushi rolls. I am going to visit The Eatery once a week (Sushi Sunday!), order four rolls each time, and keep doing so until I have tried them all. My husband is going to help with this project in order to provide a second opinion. Sushi Sunday: Day 15
The Volcano ~ Tuna, scallops, salmon and avocado on a lava bed of spicy crab, tempura style. I loves me a crab pile!! I generally don't love rolls that are entirely tempura'd (too cooked!) but this one was okay. Erika: 3.5/5 ~ Tim: 3.5/5 ~ AVERAGE: 3.5/5 X-Rated Roll ~ We like raw & hot: tuna, salmon, crab, and eel with spicy mayonnaise. My favourite of the meal, this one was just the right amount of spicy and tasted good and fresh. Erika: 4/5 ~ Tim: 3.5/5 ~ AVERAGE: 3.75/5 Viva Las Vegas ~ Crab, eel, avocado, cream cheese + spicy mayonnaise (tempura style). Again, not crazy about a tempura'd roll but cream cheese in anything is okay by me. Erika: 3/5 ~ Tim: 3/5 ~ AVERAGE: 3/5 *We were supposed to have a 4th roll, as usual (the Panama Roll) however we were informed upon being served our food that they did not have all of the ingredients to make it. A bit annoying that we were not told this when we made our order. Because of this, only three rolls were reviewed this time. Keep following along to find out which rolls will end up in our sushi hall of fame!
