Eat Every Roll at The Eatery: Day 12
My personal favourite sushi restaurant in Vancouver is The Eatery in Kitsilano. (You'll find it featured in the Worldwide Faves section of this blog!) I like it because it's super unique, an amazingly fun atmosphere, casual, not too expensive, located in my neighbourhood... And most of all because the sushi is funky, innovative and exciting! It's a sushi party every time and you're invited!!
The best thing on the menu is their rolls. They offer sixty nine different rolls to choose from!!! Each one is very interesting and far from your average roll. Recently, it occurred to me what I must do. I must try every single one of their funky sushi rolls. I am going to visit The Eatery once a week (Sushi Sunday!), order four rolls each time, and keep doing so until I have tried them all. My husband is going to help with this project in order to provide a second opinion. Sushi Sunday: Day 12
S&M Roll ~ Satisfy your salmon fetish. Mango, avocado, tempura bits topped with smoked & raw salmon. The mango is nice but overall it's a bit boring. The tempura bits seemed to be missing. Erika: 3/5 ~ Tim: 3.5/5 ~ AVERAGE: 3.25/5 MDMA ~ Mushroom tempura, daikon, shittake mushroom, avocado with mayo + teriyaki sauce. Really interesting and good! Loved the flavour from the sauce and mushrooms. Erika: 4/5 ~ Tim: 4/5 ~ AVERAGE: 4/5 Salmon L Jackson ~ Salmon katsu, cucumber & avocado topped with crab meat, smoked salmon and tobiko. This roll highlights the salmon well. I also liked the crab. Erika: 3.5/5 ~ Tim: 3.5/5 ~ AVERAGE: 3.5/5 San Francisco ~ BAKED! Crab, avocado topped with torched salmon, drizzled with Japanese mayo. WOW! Really different! The torched salmon was incredible!! Great combo! Erika: 4.5/5 ~ Tim: 5/5 ~ AVERAGE: 4.75/5 Keep following along to find out which rolls will end up in our sushi hall of fame!
