Eat Every Roll at The Eatery: Day 9
My personal favourite sushi restaurant in Vancouver is The Eatery in Kitsilano. (You'll find it featured in the Worldwide Faves section of this blog!) I like it because it's super unique, an amazingly fun atmosphere, casual, not too expensive, located in my neighbourhood... And most of all because the sushi is funky, innovative and exciting! It's a sushi party every time and you're invited!!
The best thing on the menu is their rolls. They offer sixty nine different rolls to choose from!!! Each one is very interesting and far from your average roll. Recently, it occurred to me what I must do. I must try every single one of their funky sushi rolls. I am going to visit The Eatery once a week (Sushi Sunday!), order four rolls each time, and keep doing so until I have tried them all. My husband is going to help with this project in order to provide a second opinion. Sushi Sunday: Day 9
John Lennon ~ Asparagus tempura, carrot, avocado, cucumber, with soybean sheet & dragon sauce. The asparagus was supposed to be tempura'd and it was not. That would've made this roll a lot more interesting. Fresh with good sauce. Erika: 3.5/5 ~ Tim: 2.5/5 ~ AVERAGE: 3/5 Miss Piggy Roll ~ 100% Kermit approved! Bacon, scallops, asparagus, roe, unagi sauce. A party of ingredients. Liked the bacon. Erika: 3/5 ~ Tim: 3/5 ~ AVERAGE: 3/5 KFC Roll ~ The Colonel would be proud! A chicken cutlet topped with avocado and unagi mayo. Super interesting with the breaded chicken but generally lacking in flavour. Erika: 3/5 ~ Tim: 3/5 ~ AVERAGE: 3/5 Japanese Fortress ~ Escape from the ordinary. Spicy tuna, cucumber and yam fries. Tons of fun! I really enjoyed this! The spicy heat was just right and the pile of yam fries made this so different! Erika: 4/5 ~ Tim: 4/5 ~ AVERAGE: 4/5 Keep following along to find out which rolls will end up in our sushi hall of fame!
