Eat Every Roll at The Eatery: Day 8
My personal favourite sushi restaurant in Vancouver is The Eatery in Kitsilano. (You'll find it featured in the Worldwide Faves section of this blog!) I like it because it's super unique, an amazingly fun atmosphere, casual, not too expensive, located in my neighbourhood... And most of all because the sushi is funky, innovative and exciting! It's a sushi party every time and you're invited!!
The best thing on the menu is their rolls. They offer sixty nine different rolls to choose from!!! Each one is very interesting and far from your average roll. Recently, it occurred to me what I must do. I must try every single one of their funky sushi rolls. I am going to visit The Eatery once a week (Sushi Sunday!), order four rolls each time, and keep doing so until I have tried them all. My husband is going to help with this project in order to provide a second opinion. Sushi Sunday: Day 8
I <3 You Roll ~ Artichoke hearts, asparagus, cream cheese, tempura crunch. Liked the use of artichoke but found it a bit bland overall. Erika: 2/5 ~ Tim: 2.5/5 ~ AVERAGE: 2.25/5 Jalapeño Popper ~ Smoked salmon, cream cheese, and jalapeño, tempura style. Too spicy! Lots of heat and crunch. Erika: 2.5/5 ~ Tim: 3.5/5 ~ AVERAGE: 3/5 I Go Coconuts ~ Cucumber, prawn tempura, crab meat, avocado, coconut shavings. Sweet and delicious! The crab and coconut are tropical and amazing. Erika: 4/5 ~ Tim: 3.5/5 ~ AVERAGE: 3.75/5 Ichi Roll ~ Go, Mariners, go! Salmon, avocado, cream cheese (tempura style). A bit too "cooked" for my taste. Flavours got too lost. Erika: 2.5/5 ~ Tim: 4/5 ~ AVERAGE: 3.25/5 ***Italian Stallion ~ Prosciutto, papaya, eel and cream cheese.*** This roll still currently appears on the menu, however they no longer offer it. This is a MAJOR shame because it was always one of my top favourites. I loved the creative mix of salt prosciutto with sweet papaya. I really hope that they'll bring it back because the menu isn't the same without it! Keep following along to find out which rolls will end up in our sushi hall of fame!
