Richmond Night Market: Round 2

My second visit to the Richmond Night Market was on a Friday evening and this time I was much more seasoned.

The first time that I went, I waited for a very long time to get inside. Here's how you solve that: purchase a Zoom Pass for $25. This gets you six admissions (that anyone can use) and you get to enter through an express entry gate. It just makes the most sense! Round two of the eating began. Seafood Okonomi Poutine from Okonomi Bites ($12.00)

This as the best dish of the evening! It really was the perfect combination of Japan and Canada. It's a Japanese Okonomiyaki pancake made with eggs, flour, cabbage, green onions, dashi stock along with shrimp and squid. The pancake gets cut into small pieces, tempura battered, and deep fried. Crispy on the outside, soft and savoury on the inside! Their gravy was excellent and I loved the bonito on top! Jumbo Chicken Steak from Big G Fried Chicken Steaks ($13.00)

This thing is the size of your face. There are several different seasonings to choose from but I went with the classic. There is a definite Asian flavouring to this chicken that I loved. It's crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. But it's huge - share with at least two or three people! Smoked Quail Egg from Big Beard Super BBQ ($3.00)

Had to try it!! I liked they they do these over the grill and season them. Little nuggets of eggy goodness but not as interesting and flavourful as I had hoped. Pineapple Juice from Tropical Bar ($12.00)

I mean, it's served in a pineapple, which is why you want it. Looks awesome but it was kinda spilly. The juice itself tasted watered down. The novelty is cute but the drink isn't that amazing. Pudding Milk Bubble Tea from The Bubble Tea Spot ($8.00)

This really did taste like liquid tapioca pudding and it was delicious! Plus it just makes sense with the tapioca pearls! Next time? I just want that BIG 'ol plate of seafood!
