Eat Every Roll at The Eatery: Day 5

My personal favourite sushi restaurant in Vancouver is The Eatery in Kitsilano. (You'll find it featured in the Worldwide Faves section of this blog!) I like it because it's super unique, an amazingly fun atmosphere, casual, not too expensive, located in my neighbourhood... And most of all because the sushi is funky, innovative and exciting! It's a sushi party every time and you're invited!!

The best thing on the menu is their rolls. They offer sixty nine different rolls to choose from!!! Each one is very interesting and far from your average roll. Recently, it occurred to me what I must do. I must try every single one of their funky sushi rolls. I am going to visit The Eatery once a week (Sushi Sunday!), order four rolls each time, and keep doing so until I have tried them all. My husband is going to help with this project in order to provide a second opinion. Sushi Sunday: Day 5

Drunken Monkey ~ Smoked salmon, cream cheese, tempura asparagus, crab, roe, eel. The asparagus was not tempura'd like the menu says. Nice freshness and creaminess. Erika: 3.5/5 ~ Tim: 3.5/5 ~ AVERAGE: 3.5/5 Electric Banana ~ Shockingly good! Eel and avocado topped with tempura banana. An old standby and favourite! So good with the tempura banana! Erika: 5/5 ~ Tim: 4.5/5 ~ AVERAGE: 4.75/5 Big Kahuna ~ Red pepper and avocado roll topped with shittake and avocado. Fresh and interesting with the pepper and shittake. Erika: 4/5 ~ Tim: 4/5 ~ AVERAGE: 4/5 Dragon Roll ~ BBQ eel wrapped over tempura prawns, avocado, and cucumber, topped with mayo & roe. Liked the crunch but not enough going on. Erika: 3.5/5 ~ Tim: 3/5 ~ AVERAGE: 3.25/5 Keep following along to find out which rolls will end up in our sushi hall of fame!
